Simon Smith and Martin Lahiffe co-defended a case where a well organised gang lay in wait for a jeweler and his partner in their home. (Instructed by Galbraith Branley and Achom & Partners Solicitors)

Masked men forced their victims onto a bed and handcuffed them. The jeweler was terrorized into giving the gang the keys and security details to Blingers Jewellers.

2 of the gang then gained entry to the Jewelers and emptied it of nearly £1m of merchandise.The trial was based on evidence from a specialist observation team and officers from Operation Trident.

There was also a considerable body of evidence obtained from mobile phones and the analysis of cell sites used by alleged conspirators.

The trial lasted some 11 weeks
