From her earliest recollections Mia desired to be a criminal law barrister and she began studying for her chosen career from her early teenage years. Mia’s passion for the profession has increased over the years and her commitment to her client’s cause is well known amongst her colleagues and many instructing solicitors. Mia says “I am gripped by my work and each case I view as new challenge, which I thoroughly enjoy taking on”.
Mia displays a sympathetic understanding of the pressures placed upon clients when they attend court and possesses an enviable calming manner that is appreciated by both lay and professional clients. However, Mia’s calming persona is aligned with meticulous preparation and a tenacious attitude when it comes to fighting her client’s corner!
Mia prides herself on her excellent relationships with her instructing solicitors who are all aware that they can trust her to exert the utmost effort into every case and accordingly instruct Mia time and time again.
Mia appears in cases across the spectrum of criminal law including murder, rape, sexual offences, fraud, kidnap and serious violence.
Having appeared in all courts from the Youth Court, Magistrates Court, Crown Court, Court of Appeal and the House of Lords, Mia is able to provide advice in all procedural matters and is at home in all legal environments.

RECENT/CURRENT CASES:
Re: Operation Boron - Led Junior at Basildon Crown Court in the largest ever prosecution by the Environmental Agency. This six week case involved 15 defendants who exported electrical waste to Nigeria in breach of EU legislation. The case involved complex legal argument in relation to EU directives and implementation into UK law.
Re: Operation Bradford - Led junior in a case involving 7 defendants charged with manslaughter, conspiracy to burgle and perverting the course of justice. The trial is fixed for an 8 week period at Lewes Crown Court in February 2012.

R v Balogun - Defending a client charged with the attempted murder of his wife of 24 years, after he poured petrol over her and tried to set her on fire.
R v Wilshire- Junior counsel representing a defendant charged with fifteen counts of sexual activity with a child, one count of perverting the course of justice and two further offences of making indecent images.
DWP v Clancy- £120,000 fraud with an alleged ten years of false benefit claims. Not guilty verdicts on the ten charges before the court.
R v Estephane – Defending a client charged with intoxicating and then raping a girl in a car park.
R v Elliot and Ors – Instructed in a complex and serious case involving the kidnap and blackmail of a pensioner.
Operation Bunzac – A case involving the supply of firearms to youths - trusted to work with confidential intelligence about well known gangs in London.
Operation Gursha - A large scale credit card fraud representing the lead defendant.

R v Sam Griffiths [2011] - sentence of 24 months for two violent offences halved on appeal.
R v Elmar Jamalov [2010] EWCA Crim 309 - Court of Appeal case in respect of false passports. A Leading Authority .
R v Austin & Others [2009] EWCA Crim 394 - Court of Appeal in respect of an Appellant charged with conspiracy to commit criminal damage. The defendant was part of a graffiti gang who caused over 1.5 million worth of damage to trains over a 3 year period.
