Simon Shannon

1999

Since his call to the bar in March 1999 Simon has worked exclusively as a criminal practitioner, prosecuting and defending in equal measure both in and out of London. Increasingly, he is instructed in cases involving allegations of a serious sexual nature in which his tact and discretion can be put to best use. However, his reputation has been forged in the areas of violent crime and fraud.

In recent years Simon has prosecuted as both a led junior and a junior alone in multi-handed trials involving offences of conspiracy to commit armed robbery, wounding with intent and serious public order matters. He has developed a particular expertise in the analysis and presentation of cell site evidence. He has defended in cases of complex, high-value fraud demonstrating ability to master vast amounts of material and provide clear advice both to professional and lay clients.

Simon has appeared frequently in the High Court and the Court of Appeal but is also instructed privately on a regular basis in the magistrates’ court.

Simon is a Level 3 prosecutor on the CPS Advocate Panel List and is additionally on the Fraud Panel.
