Adam Davis QC and Tim Forte have secured the acquittal of Clayton Williams on the murder charge relating to the death of PC David Phillips in Merseyside in October last year. Mr Williams was convicted, by a majority of 10-2, of manslaughter, for the killing, for which he had always taken responsibility. Mr Justice William Davis, in sentencing Williams to a determinate sentence of 20 years, expressly praised the "considerable skill and expertise" of Mr Williams' defence counsel, who, he said "could not have done more".
