James is regularly instructed in major criminal trials. He initially specialised in representing those charged with serious sexual offences. He then extended his practice to defend charges of serious violence (including murder, attempted murder), firearms offences, major drug importation, computer virus fraud, VAT fraud, and kidnapping. More recently James has been instructed with respect to matters involving offences contrary to the Terrorism Act 2006.
He is qualified and experienced in the cross-examination of vulnerable witnesses.
James has appeared in the High Court and Court of Appeal advocating in guideline cases. He has argued successfully for fair trials and appealing excessive sentences.
He always cares passionately about every outcome for his trials and provides assurance that every argument is persuasively presented.
