Prior to commencing pupillage, Rai worked as a paralegal at a leading criminal defence solicitors firm; during his time there, he was involved in a wide range of cases from common assault to murder, including a number of high-profile and seminal cases.
Additionally, Rai volunteered with the Free Representation Unit representing clients in the social security tribunal.
Outside of law, Rai enjoys being on the badminton court and going to the theatre, alongside playing the piano, organ, and saxophone.
