Clare Dowse has secured the acquittal of a client accused of the multiple rapes of his former wife during the course of what the Crown alleged was a violent and abusive marriage. Having heard a week of evidence, including complex material about a custody battle in Spain which the Defence said was central to the allegations being made, the jury retired for only 20 minutes before unanimously acquitting the Defendant of all five counts.
