Jonathan Rosen secures acquittal on rape and sexual assault charges

Following a five day trial at St. Albans Crown Court, Jonathan Rosen, instructed by Abbas Dhami of Newgate Solicitors, secured the acquittal of a 20 year old of good character charged with 12 counts which included four counts of rape, assault by penetration, non-fatal strangulation and threatening with an offensive weapon.

The defence was one of consent as to the sexual activity and a denial of the threats and physical assaults. Apart from the complainant herself, evidence was received from a number of complaint witnesses who had been called within hours of the alleged incident. The case also involved a consideration of mobile phone call traffic and text messages passing between the defendant and complainant in the months and hours prior to the incident.
