Katie Porter-Windley successful in abuse of process argument, staying one count on the indictment, and goes on to secure acquittals for all remaining counts at Portsmouth Crown Court.

Katie Porter-Windley

Katie Porter-Windley, instructed by Coomber Rich, represented a client at Portsmouth Crown Court for a four day trial. Katie successfully advanced an abuse of process argument following the Crown unequivocally advancing they would offer no evidence on one count of intentional strangulation on the indictment, then reverting their position on the day of trial. After this count was stayed, a further legal argument took place where Katie additionally excluded new evidence that was served by the Crown on day 2 of trial, due to the prejudice it would cause. The remaining three counts went to the jury, and Katie secured acquittals on all.
