Michael Stradling leads Andrew Horsell in kidnap acquittal

Michael Stradling

Andrew Horsell

For the past two and a half months Michael Stradling (leading) and Andrew Horsell have been engaged in a kidnapping trial in the Wood Green Crown Court. The case involved the assassination of a high level Irish criminal and the transfer of a drug debt to others from the North West. Those others travelled to London and then claimed that they had been kidnapped at gunpoint, held in a warehouse, and then transferred to a traveller’s site where ransom demands of up to £300,000 were made.

Michael and Andrew represented the second defendant of five. Their client faced all six counts on the indictment- kidnapping, conspiracy to falsely imprison, and conspiracy to blackmail.

The trial had a number of interesting features, including expert voice identification evidence and significant telephone and cell site analysis.

The Crown instructed King’s Counsel to prosecute the case.

Michael and Andrew’s client was the only one to be acquitted on all 6 counts on the indictment.

Michael and Andrew were instructed by Michael Carroll & Co Solicitors
