William Saunders represents the lead defendant in the Nottingham firebomb riot case

In what was a billed as copy-cat riot, on 9th August 2011 a masked group of about 40 attacked Circus Police Station in Nottingham with petrol bombs. The entrance and porch were set on fire. A bus passing by was also attacked.

The trial of the seven defendants lasted six weeks at Nottingham Crown Court with William Saunders representing the main defendant, Lance Francis, who was additionally indicted with arson with intent to endanger life. Eleven others pleaded guilty to offences of possessing explosive substances, reckless arson and riot.

The main event was filmed on a mobile phone and can be seen on 'You Tube'.
