Gordon Ross secures acquittal in £900k excise duty case

Gordon Ross

Gordon Ross represents a man found not guilty following a trial of evading £900,000 of excise duty.

On the day the Times published an article (11 February 2015) estimating that the Exchequer loses over £1.1 billion a year as a result of illegal cigarettes being smuggled into Britain, Gordon Ross secured the acquittal before a jury at Maidstone Crown Court of a Lithuanian truck driver charged with evading almost £900,000 of duty on the importation of over 3.7 million cigarettes hidden in containers in his vehicle.

Gordon was instructed by Dunbar Solicitors, Ashford, Kent.
