Charles Durrant secures acquittal in historic indecent assault – penetrative rape case

Charles Durrant

Charles Durrant has secured the acquittal of a father charged with an historic indecent assault – penetrative rape on his daughter in which there had been a note to the mother from daughter at the time describing the incident. The mother had thereafter sent a pre-action letter to the father contemporaneously through Solicitors effectively asking him to refrain from seeing the daughter, which he did for 20 years until the allegation was made to Police.

The case required complex and sensitive cross examination of all the family members in addition to the complainant and a successful application to exclude similar, non-conviction, fact evidence.

The trial lasted 6 days at Croydon Crown Court.

Charles was instructed by Victor Clifford Solicitors
