Success for John Femi-Ola QC and Richard Elliott in murder and perverting the course of justice case

John Femi-Ola QC leading Richard Elliott represented a 13 years old youth charged with murder and perverting the course of justice, at the Old Bailey.

The prosecution alleged that the youth was a party to the killing of rival in a "ride out" shooting. In particular, it was alleged that the youth assisted in the buying of items used in the killing and subsequently assisted in the burning of the car used to carry out the murder.

Just before the trial opened and following further representations, the prosecution accepted a guilty plea to acts tending to pervert the of justice and decided not to proceed to trial with the charge of murder.

The youth who had been remanded since his arrest, was sentenced to a 2 years youth rehabilitation order (YRO) with conditions in the community.
