Patrick Harte, Samantha Giffin and Stephen Garrett start defending six-week drugs trial in Chelmsford. 

Patrick, Samantha and Stephen today start their defence of three members of an alleged familial organised criminal gang in Essex. The Defendants are accused with 4 others of conspiring with corrupt prison officials to secure the passage of contraband, including phones and Class A drugs into prison. The defendants also faces allegations of drug production and weapons possession. 

The evidence takes the form of surveillance, telephonic and forensic evidence and oral evidence from employees of HMP.
