Stephen Garbett successfully secures the acquittal of his client charged with conspiring to supply class A drugs — the prosecution alleged he was leading this operation

Stephen Garbett

Stephen’s client (D) was arrested following a ‘dawn raid’ on a property where the police alleged he was living. Seized at the property were 3 ‘drug line’ phones which had been active for the preceding 6 months or so, regularly sending bulk drug advertising messages. D’s personal mobile was reportedly co-locating with these ‘drug line’ phones while messages were being sent, both at this address and while the phones were moving. A further complication was that two alleged co-conspirators (said to have been acting in a subordinate role to D) had already pleaded guilty, thus establishing the existence of this conspiracy.

Stephen’s detailed scrutiny and analysis of the data and other evidence, demonstrated inconsistencies which led to the jury acquitting D unanimously after approximately 2 hours of deliberation.  Stephen was instructed by Stefan Sutherland of Carson Kaye Solicitors
