At Croydon Crown Court, the strategy in place for one of the first Encrochat defendant’s was successfully vindicated when the eventual sentence passed, 6 years, allowed him to retain his liberty. In conjunction with Amirah Ajaz and Marshall Chua at ABV Solicitors, we guided him from his arrest in January 2021 through the early Encrochat legal arguments to a negotiated basis of plea in 2023 and an overall 5 years on tagged bail to his sentence yesterday.  That sentence means he has “served” the custodial portion on tagged bail and he can stay out of jail with his family and his job.
