After four weeks of a trial originally scheduled to last twelve, Gordon Ross, Simon Shannon and William Glover were successful in the defence of their clients. Following a series of disclosure requests, and a voir dire in relation to the prosecution expert, the prosecution offered no evidence against all eight defendants on all charges.
The case attracted widespread media attention:
Gordon Ross led William Glover, instructed by Rebecca Cooke of Shearman Bowen & Co.
Simon Shannon appeared as a led junior and was instructed by Zahir Ahmed and Fergus Harrington of ABV Solicitors.
