Jodie Hitchcock successful in Court of Appeal

Jodie-Jane Hitchcock

Jodie-Jane Hitchcock represented a young man who pleaded guilty to 19 counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and bodily harm through wanton and furious driving after two vehicles, one of which was driven by the Appellant, collided at a car meet and ploughed into the crowd of spectators. The Court of Appeal reduced the original term of 5 years' imprisonment to one of 3 years and 3 months agreeing with the submission that the sentencing judge was wrong to have taken a starting point in excess of the statutory maximum for a single offence notwithstanding the number of people that had been injured.

Jodie was instructed by Alex Graham of Heckford Norton Solicitors
